This year will begin with graduation of Keegan (MS). Keegan undertook a novel and ambitious approach to studying hybrid zones of Triodanis perfoliata and Triodanis biflora. In the same semester, Sarah Lukavsky completed her Bachelor's degree. More wonderful news arrived with lab funding from the National Science Foundation to study Mediterranean biodiversity, focusing on bellflower (Campanulaceae) evolutionary history for the next several years. Some of this work developed from field work in the Mediterranean Basin Dr Weber, and lab collaborator Dr. Andy Crowl over the past two summers.
The autumn semester brings a new graduate student to the lab, Kaya Young! Kaya is interested in examining germination cues and phenological implications under climate change for Triodanis.
Both Kate Tillotson and Taylor Simmonds successfully published their research and Leidy Martinez was awarded a one year PhD fellowship. Our semester ended on a super high note as Taylor successfully defended her PhD!
